What the basque: 12. WTB: Bertzolaritza
What the Basque!!!! This time around, because of the national championship that will take place this weekend, the 17th of December in Barakaldo, we are talking about Bertzolaritza. Bertzolaritza is one of the most intriguing art forms in use in the Basque Country and to understand what it is, we interview Mikel Gartzia, a former bertsolari and member of What the Basque, and Nerea Ibarzabal, a great bertsolari that trains hard and takes part in the Txapelketa (contest). Nerea is also working on Txakur Gorria project, check it out!
So, we talk about why this art form is really popular in the Basque Country. Watch the video below to get an idea and, if you are intrigued, then you can listen to the podcast.
Then, in Hala Bedi method, we teach you the name of the months in Basque. It seems trivial but it´s not an easy task as there are a lot of variations between all the different regions of the Basque Country. Anyway, we seize the months to have some fun, whether you learn something or not, enjoy!
Finally, in Nor-Nori-News, we talk about the protest in Paris.
We hope you’ll like this new episode of What the Basque and that you’ll try to improvise some phrases in Basque with all the knowledge acquired listening to Hala Bedi Method!
This programme is produced in Hala Bedi radio, in the city of Vitoria-Gasteiz, and it´s broadcast on Tuesdays (19:00-20:00). Also broadcast in Melbourne, the last Friday of every month, by 3CR. We want to say hello to our friends in Australia! 3CR Community Radio, don’t give up the fight!!
